One of the pillars of the NCSC is knowledge sharing with its target groups and partners. The research team contributes to the NCSC mission.”understand, connect and prevent” commenting on scientific developments in the field of cyber security and conducting, outsourcing and monitoring relevant studies. The Research Agenda 2023-2026 describes the ambitions for the coming period.

The document is used to ask research questions, participate in an investigation, or initiate and conduct an investigation yourself. The research team seeks a balance between applied and basic research and works with various partners such as TNO, universities, universities of applied sciences and private parties.

In its research agenda, NCSC approaches cybersecurity research from three perspectives: macro, meso and micro level. Research is conducted at the strategic, tactical and operational levels. The main topics of the research agenda are:

  • Cyber Security Ecosystem
  • Socio-technical cyber security. people, processes and technology
  • Technology in cyber security

Each year, the research team decides which (sub)topics are prioritized and further developed in research proposals. This is done on the basis of previous (research) results and current developments, for example arising from the CSBN and (geo)political developments. The research team would like to request input from NCSC target groups and partners.
