It National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), it Digital Trust Center (DTC) and: Cyber Security Incident Response Team for digital service providers (CSIRT-DSP) merge into one central expertise center and information hub. Consolidating knowledge and information about cybersecurity, statutory responsibilities and services in the event of major incidents increases the digital resilience of the Netherlands. This new facility will provide relevant information and knowledge to all organizations in the Netherlands, large or small, public or private, vital and non-vital.
Ministers Dylan Yeshilgöz-Zegerius (Justice and Security) and Miki Adriansens (Economic Affairs and Climate), under which these cyber security organizations are responsible, informed the House of Representatives today of the results of the search for cooperation.
State institutions work for different target groups
State institutions have the same goals, but work for different target groups. NCSC’s main target groups are vital organizations such as banks, energy and telecommunications providers and the national government itself, DTC for the business community and CSIRT-DSP for digital service providers. Both will depart in 2024 Cyber Security Incident Response Teams (NCSC and CSIRT-DSP) together of the Dutch government. Then (2026) the two information centers and expertise centers (NCSC and DTC).

For example, if the Internet is down due to a cyber attack, stores are empty or even industrial production fails. Digital devices and systems are everywhere. This provides opportunities for our companies and convenience for consumers, but it must also improve our digital agility. The national government also has its role in this. With knowledge sharing, modern legislation and extensive incident experience. That’s why it’s good that we’re creating clarity with one organization and leveraging our digital power.”
More effective and efficient
By creating a single organization, a national government can more effectively and efficiently deploy its cybersecurity capabilities. This new organization will then act as a national center of expertise, information hub and National Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT). Joining forces also delivers efficiency gains in joint business operations, outsourcing and IT.
