Directions:
All visitors without a US Federal Government Employee ID must sign in via 14th The main entrance to the street.
Visitors with a US Federal Government Employee ID can log in via 14th Main Street Entrance or US Department of Commerce Tunnel Entrance (available Ronald Reagan Building Food Court – Concourse Level)
Parking lot.
There is no on-site parking at the Herbert C. Hoover Building (HCHB). The nearest parking lot is Ronald Reagan Building on the other side of the street.
Metro:
Federal triangle (blue, sliver and orange stripes). 5 minutes walk to HCHB
- Take two escalators to exit the subway station and reach street level (Woodrow Wilson Plaza).
- Stay left to exit the Plaza.
- Take an immediate left past the stairs leading to the Cours/Food Court level. (don’t go down the stairs!)
- Turn right to get between the two buildings onto 14th St.
- Use the pedestrian crossing on the right to cross number 14th St.
- After crossing the street, turn right.
- The entrance will be on your left.
Metro Center (Red Line): 10 minutes walk to HCHB
- Follow the signs to exit 13th & G St. (You will go up 1 escalator if coming from the Red Line and 2 escalators if coming from the Orange/Blue/Silver Lines).
- Take the escalator to exit the subway station and reach street level (Peets Coffee).
- Exit right to walk past Peets Coffee and onto F St.
- Continue 2 blocks to Pennsylvania Ave.
- Cross Pennsylvania Avenue and turn right onto 14thth St.
- Cross 14:00th St and turn left to walk 14th St.
- The entrance will be on your right.

- Present your PIV/CAC card upon arrival at the HCHB visitor entrance to bypass security screening.
All visitors without US Federal Government Employee ID
- All visitors must pass through a magnetometer and/or be scanned with hand-held screening devices.
- All visitors must have all bags, wallets, etc. scanned or searched.
- All visitors must pass through a photo ID* checkpoint.
- *US citizens please see information about the REAL ID Act of 2005 below. International participants are required to present a passport. Permanent residents are required to present their Green Card.
- For non-US citizens. Please have your valid passport with photo identification.
- For US permanent residents: Please have your green card with photo identification.
- For US citizens. Please have a driver’s license issued by your state. As for Real-ID requirements, all states are in compliance or have an extension by May 2023.
- NIST also accepts other forms of federally issued identification in lieu of a state-issued driver’s license, such as a valid passport, passport card, DOD Common Access Card (CAC), Veterans ID, federal agency HSPD-12 IDs and ID for military dependents. .
